Rothwell’s Cleaning Services Ltd provides thorough, professional and effective cleaning of Carpets, Upholstery, Rugs and Stone & Tile flooring both indoors and outdoors.
Rothwell’s is a family cleaning business aimed at high standards and fair prices. Its our aim to do such a good job that “If you use us, you’ll recommend us.”
A Bit Of Our History
Rothwell’s was started by Max Campbell in 1993 with the aim to provide fantastic cleaning results with honest, friendly customer service, this is still core to all that Rothwell’s does to this day.
The first years of Rothwell’s were taken up with Max meeting carpet cleaners and equipment manufacturers as well as going on many courses to find the best methods of cleaning. Over the next 16 years Max built up a vast wealth of experience and knowledge in the cleaning industry, along with a loyal customer base. Over that time several members of our family including Oliver all joined Max for periods in between study and other jobs but it remained a small firm mainly with Max working by himself.
In 2010, after a year of running his own cleaning business, Oliver joined Max and they became business partners. Over the years since, Rothwell’s has grown to become one of East Anglia’s largest specialist cleaning businesses. We quickly invested in new van mounted cleaning units to ensure we could continue to provide the very best cleaning results for carpet and soft furnishings. We were also keen to add more services so from 2010 we spent many years learning about stone floors and now provide a wide range of services to restore stone floors both inside and out. We also took our experience with carpets and other fabrics to begin oriental rug cleaning and in 2014 opened our rug cleaning studio here in Kirtling, Newmarket.
The team has grown to include several technicians, all of which have been highly trained by Max and Oliver, completing the Rothwell’s in-house, extensive, mentor training programme as well as internationally recognised courses. This larger team now means Rothwell’s has more resources and skills to use when completing every job. And with Max and Oliver still very hands on Rothwell’s keeps its caring, family firm feel and attitudes throughout the company. We are proud of the team we have built and the level of service we offer to all our customers.

Meet The Team
Max Campbell – Founder
Max started his career in agriculture running dairy farms. He then took his knowledge to become an adviser for and spent many years travelling around Africa. In 1993 he started Rothwell’s Cleaning and still runs the company along with Oliver. Max’s main focus is on the training and overseeing of Rothwell’s cleaning technicians and standards plus his passion for stone floors. In his spare time Max likes to mess about on boats, sailing boats if possible, and looking after his meadow.
Oliver Campbell – Managing Director
Oliver had a very early introduction to the cleaning industry, from the age of 14 he would occasionally help Max on carpet cleaning jobs for extra pocket money at the weekends. At 17 he ran Rothwell’s for a year while considering what to do next. After years of travelling and various careers including being a zoo keeper and working in commercial cleaning he started his own cleaning business. Then in 2010 merged his business into Rothwell’s and became business partners with Max. Oliver’s main focus is on running the office, finance and marketing, and his interest in rugs. Oliver spends much of his free time, hiking, going to gigs and looking after his garden.
Gemma – Head Of Customer Satisfaction & Cleaning Technician
Gemma has spent many years in the cleaning industry. Before joining Rothwell’s in spring 2021 Gemma ran her own domestic cleaning service in Kent where her natural skills in customer service and her high standards and attention to detail served her well. Her experiences of providing high quality service and fostering good customer relationships means she fits in to the Rothwell’s team very well. Gemma spends her free time with her family and as the lead singer of a northern soul band.
Graham – Rug Cleaning Technician & Stores Manager
Graham grew up around Newmarket and has had a long career in the cleaning industry, first becoming involved in 1992. In 2006 he became a partner in another local cleaning company and in 2010 started his own cleaning company. After a successful sale of his business he joined the Rothwell’s team in 2017. Graham currently takes charge of the majority of rug cleaning, works as technician out on the vans a few days a week and manages the stores and equipment rooms at Rothwell’s. Graham is a good pool player and enjoys time with his children when not at work.
Andrew – Cleaning Technician
Andrew grew up in Saffron Walden and before joining Rothwell’s Andrew worked as an electrician. Earlier in his life he worked for another cleaning company cleaning carpets, windows and hard floors so has spent many years in this industry. Andrew joined the Rothwell’s team in 2020 and quickly became an important member of the team. Andrew has a particular like of stone floors and patios. Andrew is a keen weight lifter and can be found in the gym outside work.
Dimitrios – Cleaning Technician
Dimitrios grew up in Thessaloniki, Greece, moving to the U.K. in 2018. He joined Rothwells in the spring of 2024. Before joining Rothwells Dimitrios worked in hospitality for many years giving him lots of experance in delivering a great customer experance. Dimitrios has a very high attention to detail and an urge to get fantastic results. In his spare time Dimitrios loves playing piano and looking after his Guinea pigs.
Elaine Campbell – Company Secretary
Elaine started life as an art teacher after her degree in art from Liverpool University. Elaine helped Max in the early years of Rothwell’s but joined the company fully in July 2016. Elaine has particular attention to detail and a natural desire to help people so handles customer accounts, invoicing and is often the first voice you will hear when calling Rothwell’s. Elaine spends her free time looking after her veg patch, polly tunel and meadow or in her art room.
Louise – Customer Services
Louise joined our busy team in 2020 to help with the customer service and organising of appointments. Before joining Rothwell’s Louise was a self employed hair dresser for 16 years. Her experience in looking after her own customers has given her great experience and skills to help look after Rothwell’s customers. Louise is currently building a house with her partner so this fills most of her free time.
